Unlocking Potential: Nesakkaram Children Explore Their Multiple Talents
On August 19, 2026, the quiet enthusiasm of 79 young learners filled the room as Nesakkaram organized a vibrant Creative Expression Training for children enrolled across its 12 supplementary education centers. Designed to foster hands-on learning and imaginative play, the gathering served as a dynamic platform for students to step away from digital screens and immerse themselves entirely in tactile artistic creation.
Guided by expert craftsman Mr. Bala, the workshop introduced children to the art of upcycling and sculpture. Using recycled paper, ice cream sticks, and assorted artistic materials, the young participants crafted detailed models and vivid drawings. Tables were soon covered in soft clay as children molded intricate shapes, turning simple raw materials into expressive artwork.
For many, the session was as much about personal discovery as it was about art.
"I had no idea I could make anything like this out of simple paper and clay," shared Sheila, one of the young participants. "Now that I know I have a gift for craft, I am definitely going to keep practicing when I go home."
"When you give children raw materials, you are not just teaching them art—you are opening a window into how they think and feel," remarked Mr. Bala. "Seeing their focus and seeing them discover abilities they didn't know they had was deeply rewarding."
The impact of the gathering extended beyond visual arts into public speaking and confidence-building. A highlight of the common session was a powerful address by Rudra, a third-standard student, who delivered a speech on freedom fighters and the significance of Independence Day that drew widespread praise from the room.
The reflection session gave students space to voice what the day meant to them, highlighting the value of interactive, real-world engagement over digital screen time.
"It was so nice to spend an entire day creating things with my hands without constantly looking at a phone screen," said Dominic. "I learned so much from watching others and sharing ideas."
"This day made us realize how much we can achieve when we focus together," added Anandi. "It was engaging, fun, and gave all of us a platform to shine."
By providing space for creative experimentation, Nesakkaram continues to nurture well-rounded development—proving that when children are given the tools to express themselves, their true potential comes to light.
